Termites (also called as Whit Ants) are social insects and live together in colonies in which there are overlapping generations and a division of labour among different castes. Each colony contains three major castes of adult termites: workers, soldiers, and reproductives.

Soldiers are differentiated by their enlarged, darker colored heads and large mandibles and are the next most numerous caste. Depending on species, anywhere from 2 to 4 percent (subterranean termites) and up to 10% (Formosan termites) of the termites in an established colony will be soldiers. As their name suggests, soldiers are responsible for the defense of the entire colony and will immediately respond to breeches in tunnel walls or other attacks of any pest on the colony.

Reproductives are the members of colony which responsible for mating and laying eggs, but there are three different types of reproductive termites. Primary reproductives are the queen and king. These are the termites that left their parent colony as swarmers termites, flew away from the parent colony and paired up to establish the new colony in nearby premises. Unlike ants, bees, and wasps, male reproductive termites, known as kings, assist the female in founding the colony and remain inside the colony with the queen to mate repeatedly over time.

Choosing Methods of Termite Control?
There are different methods of termite control, it is important to recognize that there are two main methods of termite treatments based on when the treatment is applied.
- PCS - Pre Construction Anti Termite treatment
- PCS - Post Construction Anti Termite Treatment
What is PCS - Pre-Construction Anti Termite treatment?
Preconstruction treatments are protective treatments that are applied in new building or being built, and shortly after the building is completed. Mostly, preconstruction Anti Termite treatments can only be applied at one point in the life of a building. Some types of treatments and physical barriers can only be applied at this time, but there are other methods of termite treatment that can be applied either as preconstruction treatments or postconstruction treatments. The soil, building pillars, and other joints are treated with chemicals to prevent termites in this anti-termite treatment.
The most effective technique to avoid termite attack in buildings or residences is to apply anti-termite treatment before to construction. Chemicals are used to treat the soil beneath the foundation. To keep termites out of the structure, a chemical barrier is created between the ground and the foundation brickwork.
Spraying of a liquid termiticide pre treatment is a two-step process that involves establishing a horizontal barrier of treated soil underneath the building and a vertical barrier of treated soil around the exterior building foundation.

What is PCS - Post-Construction Anti Termite treatment?
Drilling approach is used in post construction anti termite treatment to produce a barrier against termites in existing buildings. This procedure is simple, non-messy, and absolutely risk-free.
This method of Anti termite treatment creates an unnoticeable chemical barrier surrounding the building, ensuring constant protection. Infested woodwork is treated with an oil-based pesticide to kill termites and protect it from future infestations.

Know About Termites
- They are useless. Termites live and operate out of underground nests where a queen produces 40,000 termites each day for 40 years of its live . Unless you kill queen you cannot get rid of termites.
- Poisonous sprays only kill what is on surface hence the termites keep coming back. Only baiting systems can kill the queen by feeding it with a slow undetectable active ingredient
- Termites take food back to convert to liquid so all nest members can feed on it. The fungus sticks to the body of the pest and starts to grow out of its skin and cuticles and ultimately kills the nest king and queen and all the pests in the nest.
- Safe for kids and pets as there is no poison or contamination residues: Can even be used around food or water bodies/ Just place bait stations as per the instructions on the box or simply call our customer care center for a discussion or video chat and we will guide you through the whole process.
To protect your home and property from a termite infestation we advise to have an annual inspection from PCS Pest Control Services Tirunelveli.
